Boxing Programs

U13-JUNIORS BOXING, 8 – 12 YEARS OLD

This is a technical Olympic-style boxing and sports conditioning program for children ages 10 to 12 years old. Participants are taught technical Olympic-style boxing skills following the Athlete Development System along with physical sports conditioning in a non-contact manner.

U16-JUNIORS BOXING, 13 – 15 YEARS OLD

This is a technical Olympic-style boxing and sports conditioning program for children ages 13 to 15 years old. Participants are taught technical Olympic-style boxing skills following the Athlete Development System along with physical sports conditioning in a non-contact manner.

U20-YOUTH BOXING, 16 – 19 YEARS OLD

This is a technical Olympic-style boxing and sports conditioning program for participants ages 16 to 19 years old. Participants are taught technical Olympic-style boxing skills following the Athlete Development System along with physical sports conditioning in a non-contact manner.

Interested individuals will start with the non-contact “Tech Boxing Fitness” on Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 pm, where they will learn the basic skills of the sport…

Note

After successful completion of the non-contact introduction to basic Olympic-style boxing skills and physical sports conditioning, students interested in learning contact boxing would be introduced to contact boxing in a controlled and progressive learning manner. If they are under the age of 18 years old, they would require parental written approval.

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM

Progressive Accreditation Learning

Welcome to the Student-Boxing Athlete Development System – ADS, a progressive accreditation system for learning and developing Olympic boxers safely and effectively. The System is based on Sport Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development model. The System has two stages: Prerequisite to Competition and Enter Competition:

PREREQUISITE TO COMPETITION
Prerequisite to Competition is the the stage designed to teach grassroots student-boxers everything they need to know before they can be allowed to enter competition. After completing the Prerequisite to Competition stage, the grassroots student-boxer would be granted approval to enter competition, where they will compete safely and effectively.
- Non-contact introduction to basic skills (learn to box)
- Controlled introduction to sparring (learn-train to box)
- Technical developmental sparring (learn-train to box)
- Introduction to competition (learn-train to compete)
ENTER COMPETITION
This stage recognizes the grassroots student-boxer as a successfully trained athlete ready to enter competition according to the Student-Boxing Athlete Development System. The progressive levels in the Competition stage are as follows:

BRONZE STAR STUDENT-BOXING CLASS:
- This is a novice class for student-boxers with less than six (6) sanctioned Olympic boxing bouts. They need to accumulate a total of 6 sanctioned Olympic boxing bouts to graduate the Bronze Star Class.
SILER STAR STUDENT-BOXING CLASS:
- This is a novice class for student-boxers with less than twelver (12) sanctioned Olympic boxing bouts. They need to accumulate a total of twelve (12) sanctioned Olympic boxing bouts to graduate the Silver Star Class.
GOLDEN STAR STUDENT-BOXING CLASS:
- Golden Star Class is the traditional open class, where boxers have acquired enough ring experience to compete against another open class boxer with an unlimited number of sanctioned Olympic boxing bouts. Student-boxers begin their training to qualify for the Canadian National Olympic Boxing Championship upon entering the Golden Star Student-Boxing Class.
